New Hampshire State Senate - District 11
The Spratt for Senate Campaign is proud to announce that the Sierra Club has backed its endorsement with a mail campaign to create awareness about Steve's commitment to the environment and to responsible growth. Long a believer that protecting the environment does not have to come at the expense of business growth Steve has worked diligently to create jobs (through helping to pass the investment tax credit and the job training fund bills) while preserving the natural resources of New Hampshire.
In its mailing the Sierra Club states:
Environmental Champion Stephen Spratt for State Senate. Steve received a 100% rating on NH Sierra Club's 2008 environmental scorecard, supported state-wide recycling, voted for consumer protections, supported local and state-wide global warming action and supported local small-scale renewable energy programs.
The Keene Sentinel added its voice to the growing list of endorsements for Steve Spratt for State Senate. In its article dated 10/30/2008 the Sentinel writes : Senate District 11 (Jaffrey, Rindge and Peterborough in the Monadnock Region): Milford Republican Peter E. Bragdon says the state has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Actually, the looming deficit is largely due to shortfalls in business taxes; Bragdon’s argument is that he’d look at streamlining government before he’d consider altering the tax structure.
His Democratic challenger, Representative Stephen P. Spratt of Greenville agrees that spending restraints are needed, but he also says that a discussion about tax reform is sorely needed.
The two candidates are well spoken and open to compromise. Both are positive assets in the Legislature, but only one of them will remain in it after the votes have been counted. The big difference comes down to the relative importance of tax reform in a state that, we have long believed, needs it, and that gives the nod to Spratt.

Representative Steve Spratt worked on my steering committee in my presidential run here in New Hampshire. A tireless worker he also took on the responsibility of acting as a surrogate for me in a number of debates including two issue specific debates, one on health care and the other one on the arts. His opponents were more often than not national campaign staff or members of the United States Congress. By all indications from both sides he won them all. It takes a lot to stand up for what you believe particularly in a state as well informed as New Hampshire. Steve was able to field questions on any topic thrown at him in a professional and confident manner and with a keen sense of humor when the situation demanded.
The years ahead will be challenging ones. It will take leaders who are problem solvers, team builders and visionaries. I believe Steve has those qualities and I know his commitment to New Hampshire and to this country is unwavering. I urge you to vote for Steve for the New Hampshire State Senate to ensure that the quality of life you are so famous for is available for generations to come.
Governor Bill Richardson

As an Educator that has served youth in all 50 states and 48 different countries to well over 4500 youth programs - I cannot endorse a better man that cares deeply for youth leadership and their service to their communities. I have on many occasions watched Mr. Steve Spratt work with youth, speak with youth, and engage youth in higher thinking. Mr. Spratt is far more than a public figure fighting for New Hampshire. He is an Educator and a great role model. I fully endorse Mr. Spratt!!
